PAYING ATTENTION

Posted by | Uncategorized | No Comments

The late Broadway composer and TV star Albert Hague once said, “in poker, you can’t bluff someone who isn’t paying attention.” In business, our partner, Norman Siegel, likes to believe that every negative thing that happens to him is the result of maliciousness. We always tell him, “Norman, never confuse malevolence with stupidity.” 99% of the negative stuff that happens to us in business is the result of negligence and stupidity. The architect Walter Gropius used to say “God is in the details.” He was right. It’s not enough to come up with the great idea. You’ve got to be willing to sweat the details so your ideas are realized in full. When was the last time you had what you thought was a good idea that didn’t succeed? And was it due to the details?
